East Geelong renovation adds $300K to value on auction day

An Insta-worthy renovation has added more than $300,000 to the value of a classic brick house in East Geelong.

It was love at first sight for the new owners of 7 Bendle Street, who paid $800,000 for the three-bedroom house at auction.

Eastwood Andrews, Geelong agent Amanda Frick said the local couple shed tears of joy after beating one other bidder to secure the property at the top of the quoted range.

The creative duo behind We Are Kin Interiors worked their magic to reinvest the Mid-Century offering that previously sold last year for $476,500.

The interior was stripped back to its bare bones and updated from the floor up to showcase timber lined ceilings, an open-living room with large windows framing views the north-facing backyard and a sleek modern kitchen and two Art Deco-inspired bathrooms.

“It had so much character and (the buyers) said as soon as they saw it knocked out every other house,” Ms Frick said.

“It was strange at the auction with everyone wearing masks you couldn’t really read people’s faces.

“But it ended up being really emotional, they were so happy and she cried.”

She said the renovators had redesigned the house for how they would want to live and poured lots of love into the finished product.

An outdoor entertainment area was added to the rear of the house, where the landscaped garden and double garage added to the appeal of the 592sq m block.
